Google’s Chrome web browser is increasingly becoming a bigger threat to the dominant Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) web browser, new data reveals.
According to analytics firm StatCounter, Chrome has just become the world’s second most used web browser in the world.
StatCounter says that Chrome now has 25.7 percent share in the web browser wars while Firefox has 25.2 percent share.
IE still is reigning with a 40.6 percent market share, the StatCounter data shows.
Nonetheless, StatCounter expects Chrome to close the gap separating its market share with IE.
“We can look forward to a fascinating battle between Microsoft and Google as the pace of growth of Chrome suggests that it will become a real rival to Internet Explorer globally,” Brisith publication The Telegraph quotes StatCounter CEO Aodhan Cullen as saying.
