04 Feb 12 .357 Magnum stolen from Cadillac in Lake Wales

The gun’s 62-year-old owner told Lake Wales Police he first realized his car had been burglarized on Jan. 10, three weeks ago.

He didn’t report the burglary to police until Monday. The report did not give a reason for the delay.

He said he and his wife were to All Star Grill North at State Road 60 and South Buck Moore Road from 7 to 9 p.m. Jan. 6. The next night, they drove to Walmart on State Road 60 in Lake Wales, and were there from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.

The man told police he thinks his 2002 Cadillac was broken into during one of those times.

His chrome-plated handgun has a 2-inch barrel and rosewood hand grips, according to police reports.

He also reported stolen a Hen Foster pocket knife with a chipped aqua blue handle, a 6-inch Stiletto pocket knife engraved with “Dundee Citrus” and a black men’s Seiko watch.

Also taken were a black leather change purse and black plastic Cadillac coin holder, together holding approximately $35 in U.S. coins, reports said. The combined value of the stolen property is listed as $690.

The man told police that there didn’t appear to be any forced entry into the car, and to his recollection, the car was locked on both occasions.

Since the burglary was a month ago, police did not process the car for fingerprints. However, the case remains open.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to contact the Lake Wales Police Department at 863-678-4223.
