Car aficionados across central Nebraska showed off their rides at the annual Flatlander Car Show Saturday.

The show continues today, from noon to 6 p.m. at the Platte River Mall.

On Saturday, Frank Potter, of Callaway, was showing off two cars – a 1954 Buick Riviera Roadmaster and a 1964 Pontiac Star Chief.

“We’ve only had it a couple of weeks,” Potter said about the yellow Riviera, actually owned by his son Henry. “It’s so beautiful. We had six cars we could bring, but we wanted to bring this one to see what the public would say.”

Potter said the car had its picture taken a lot Saturday, and a lot of people have stopped to talk to him about it. Potter has been showing cars in North Platte for 10 years. Of the Buick, he said it had been in storage in North Platte for many years, and he believed it only had one owner since it was bought brand new. The only thing that wasn’t original, he said, was the paint job, which he believed was about 20 years old, but matched the original color of the car.

“It’s the first drive for it and it’s been a real attraction,” he said.

Bill Seamann, of North Platte, was showing off his refurbished 1930 Ford Model A. Seamann said there isn’t a nut or bolt that he hasn’t refurbished on the rare vehicle.

“I’ve been at it a couple of years,” he said. “I’ve done several [cars]. I’m proud of it. It came out nice.”

Seamann said the wheat-and-black-colored Model A only has 53,000 miles, and that he restored all of the original parts, except the quail hood ornament, which he had to replace.
