Ford introduced the 2013 F-Series Super Duty Platinum pickup truck. The prices have not yet been announced but the truck is expected to be the most expensive model in the F-series range exceeding even the $68,000 price range of King Ranch Super Duty. Ford has added styling and luxury changes as well as MyFord Touch, which will also be available on other Super Duty models.
The 2013 Ford F-Series Super Duty Platinum will be available in Kodiak Brown, Ruby Red, Tuxedo Black, White Platinum and Ingot Silver. A new exterior color, Blue Jean Metallic will be available or the other Super Duty models. The Platinum has a satin-chrome grille with mesh inserts, shiny letters spelling Platinum on both sides of the pickup box and a chrome exhaust tip. The twenty-inch polished wheels with black inserts are standard. Inside, there’s a 10-way adjustable driver’s seat and floor mats embroidered with the Platinum logo. The seating surfaces are covered in supple leather and it has a heated leather-wrapped wood steering wheel as well as heated rear seats. Pecan and Midnight Black are the two interior color choices
The most significant development in the 2013 Ford F-Series Super Duty Platinum is the addition of MyFord Touch that incorporates large tactile knobs and buttons on the center stack to ease operation for users wearing gloves. Its touch screen can be found nearly vertical in the dash for better visibility. Above the dash there are two USB connections, RCA connections, a 12-volt outlet and an SD-card outlet. A universal garage door opener, rear view camera, navigation system and power adjustable pedals and mirrors come standard on the Platinum. Buyers can choose a 6.2-L V8 gasoline engine or a 6.7-L turbo diesel V8 engine. Ken Czubay, Ford’s vice president of U.S. marketing, sales, and service, hinted about some powertrain changes for the F-Series on their minds: “We’ll be making an announcement in the near future,” he said.
