Classes will be from 1-4 p.m. Wednesday through April 25 the Rotino Senior Center, 5817 Driftwood Pkwy.

This program helps family caregivers reduce stress, improve self-confidence, communicate feelings better, balance their lives, increase their ability to make tough decisions and locate helpful resources.

Classes consist of six sessions once a week. Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help you take the “tools” you choose and put them into action for your life.

For information about respite care or to register, call 343-2751. Class size is limited and preregistration is required.

Participants will receive a book, “The Caregiver Helpbook,” developed specifically for the class. A donation of $25 to help defray the cost of the book is suggested, but not required to attend the class.

Salon gives couple yard of month award

Joseph and Bonnie O’Brien of Cape Coral are the first recipients of the Envy Salon Yard of the Month award.

Isabel Perez and Felicia Taylor, owners of Envy Salon, found the need to give back to their community in a way that will bring a lift to the customers who have been keeping their salon going for more than 40 years.

“I love being outdoors working on my yard; it’s therapeutic,” Joseph O’Brien said.

“I noticed that even though a lot of residents of the Cape Coral community continue to get some help from lawn maintenance year-round, they are still out there day in and day out on their hands and knees getting dirty and keeping their homes beautiful with pride,” Perez said.

“We want to be able to show the residents of Cape Coral we appreciate their hard work and dedication in keeping the Cape beautiful,” Taylor said.

Lee County band set for final concert

The Lee County Community Band will present its last concert of the season at 3 p.m. April 1 at Mariner High School.

The concert is free (donations accepted) and open to the public. Mariner High School is at 701 Chiquita Blvd. N.

Now celebrating its 127th year, the band is composed of 52 musicians who love playing for audiences who enjoy patriotic songs, as well as show tunes, old favorites and Dixieland.

15 Mar 12 Chrome Divas to hold fund-raiser

To the editor:

The Chrome Divas of Cape Coral/Ft. Myers, who are a local women riding group that plan and participate in many fund-raising events to make a difference in peoples lives, are making preparations for a charity fund-raiser for Cape Coral Bootstrap Homeless Ministry. This event will be held Sunday, April 1, beginning at Gators on Hancock Bridge Parkway in Cape Coral, that register all for the Mystery Ride to find clues to the final destination, which will be at Victory Lane on Hancock.

Proceeds from this event will go to Cape Coral Bootstrap Homeless Ministry which is a 501c-3 non-profit charitable organization providing meals and other services to homeless individuals and families, and others in need, in Cape Coral and North Fort Myers. They have been serving our local community for four years. Every Monday, they offer a meal and other services to our guests, including first aid from a nurse, food and beverage to go, donated used clothing, free haircuts, assistance getting to medical appointments and job interviews and referrals to outside agencies. They provide supplies such as toiletries, tents, batteries for lanterns, shoes and boots, etc. Finally, after the meal each week, they offer a prayer service for those who desire to participate. They also provide help for those transitioning from the street into permanent housing by collecting and delivering donated furniture and household goods.

You may donate a gift basket for our raffle, or you may wish to become a sponsor. Sponsorship is very affordable at the Platinum level- $500, Gold level $400, Silver level $300, Bronze level $200 and Leather level $100. Each of these sponsorship levels will offer you advertisement and recognition at our event, and your donation will be tax deductible and sincerely appreciated for making a difference in peoples lives. Your contribution to Cape Coral Bootstrap Homeless Ministry will allow them to continue providing necessary meals and services to our homeless neighbors and others in need in our local community. Please assist us in helping local families and individuals to get through difficult economic times.
