An Oakland man dubbed the “chrome revolver bandit” for the pistol he allegedly used during a Bay Area robbery spree faces 37 felony charges that include a count of mayhem.
Ricky Renee Sanders, 34, was arraigned in San Mateo County Superior Court on Wednesday, but didn’t enter a plea to the charges, said chief deputy district attorney Karen Guidotti. He’s being held without bail.
He’s suspected of hold ups in Santa Clara, San Francisco and San Mateo counties, including a robbery gone wrong in San Mateo that left a Petsmart worker with a gunshot wound.
The employee survived, but the bullet severed an artery in his leg.
Sanders is charged with the robbery or attempted robbery of a Beverages More as well as a Game Stop store in Colma.
He’s also accused of the Oct. 8 holdup at a San Mateo Petsmart store, prosecutors said.
Police say the San Jose robbery finally led them to Sanders. He allegedly left behind a fingerprint that investigators used to identify him.
