All about Google Chrome & Google Chrome OS

26 Oct 11 Chrome 15 Released, Now Even More App-ealing

We can’t deny the fact that apps have been making our lives easier, and even more fun.  This love for apps is what pushed Google into making the latest Chrome release to be more app-philic.  The latest update has a revamped New Tab Page that separates the Most Visited, Recently Closed and Apps into sections, and just like apps found on mobile devices, you can rearrange or delete icons for apps and sites, while it also allows users to rename each section according to their preferences.

The Chrome Web Store also has a new fresh look.  Images of apps are plastered in the Chrome Web Store and hovering on most of them tells you what an app is about.  Clicking an app, extension or theme will open a panel featuring screenshots, videos and other relevant information neatly organized into separate tabs.

In a blog post, Shannon Guymon, Product Manager said, “Apps and extensions are now presented in a wall of images that’s updated every time you visit the store. We hope this will help you quickly scan the store and find interesting things to try out. In addition, apps and extensions are easier to install—just hover over an image on the grid and click ‘Add to Chrome.’”

Aside from the new Chrome Web Store look, there’s a few new apps that will surely catch your attention, like My Robot Nation, The Godfather: Five Families and Fieldrunners.

Google Chrome 15.0.874.102 can be downloaded here if you’re a new user.  If you want to update Chrome to the latest version, click on the tool icon on your Chrome browser then click on ‘About Google Chrome.’  It will automatically check for an update then it will ask you to relaunch Google Chrome, so just click on the ‘relaunch’ button.  You’re all set.

This is just the tip of the iceberg as Google plans to make apps integrated into more of their services.  Alongside the promise of Android, Google’s goals to take over connected devices is just getting started.
